If you’re a serious beauty connoisseur, this is a MUST-READ!

Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is a biopolymer created from a renewable resource (lactic acid: C3H6O3) and it is from the alpha-hydroxy-acid family. Not to be confused with PLLA made from non-renewable petroleum. PLLA in the context of this article is an FDA-approved ingredient for the correction of facial fat loss such as found in HIV patients. It’s a powerful collagen simulator.

How is PLLA Used?

PLLA can supercharge your body’s production of collagen which is lost with aging, sun damage, and poor skin care. Loss of collagen often results in the sunken look we dread that makes us look tired, even gaunt. Over time (patience is required) the boosting of collagen helps the skin plump and those sunken areas look full again. Research has proven it’s effectiveness.

The process in which PLLA boosts collagen is cumulative and looks like this. It may begin with fine lines, like those in crows feet, disappearing. Then the overall feel of skin begins to feel smoother and contains more bounce, and deeper wrinkles begin to plump. The ongoing affects of using products with PLLA is skin that looks fuller, lifted, toned and more radiant.

Is all PLLA the Same?

Not all PLLA is the same. The molecular structure of PLLA can vary widely depending on how it is developed. The smaller the molecular structure the better in the context of absorption by the skin. Higher quality PLLA will have a lower molecular structure. It is often more costly due to the time consuming process to develop it. Cheaper versions will have a larger molecular structure making them less effective since larger molecular product sit on top of the skin, verses penetrating the skin.

Where Can I Find High Quality PLLA?

It is in SculpTRA™ an injectable product used as a wrinkle filler. If you don’t like needles poked into your face, it is also found in the SculPLLA Facial Filler Mask. This mask is all the rage in Hollywood because of its skin and wrinkle plumping action. And, if you don’t have access to a SculPLLA facial provider (it is a professionals only product), the next best thing is a consumer product called SculPLLA Stem Cell Mist or CaviPLLA Multi-Serum.
